The Eastern Cape Department of Education MEC, Fundile Gade welcomes the appointment of Mahlubandile Qwase by Premier, Oscar Mabuyane to lead the Education department as an Acting Head of Department as of today. 

Qwase is no stranger to the sector but boasts with extensive experience to the administration as he comes from the Office of the Premier where he was serving as the Deputy Director General.

Qwase will be acting in the position pending the finalization of the matter as it relates to the HoD Dr Naledi Mbude and any other related processes.
